Ray graduated from Newcastle University in 2008.

He performed two years of postgraduate training in the Hunter before undertaking Basic and Advanced Physician’s training in Melbourne. He completed his specialist training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine in 2017 at the Austin Hospital and Victoria Respiratory Support Service, involving management of complex ventilation in neuromuscular disease.

Ray holds a staff specialist appointment at the John Hunter Hospital. He continues to consult at the Lung Oncology clinic at the Calvary Mater Hospital, and is part of the Lung Cancer MDT. He currently also admits to Lake Macquarie Private Hospital forming part of their Respiratory Service.

As of July 2022, Ray will be consulting exclusively at Newcastle Lung Group. He shall continue to welcome referrals for management of sleep related conditions which he currently sees at Sleep Medicine in Charlestown till July. Timely sleep diagnostic services will subsequently continue to be offered through Sleep Medicine Charlestown and Warners Bay Private Hospital, with all sleep studies reported by Dr Mariasoosai.
